At one of this weekend’s shows, something happened that reminded me why I love performing magic for adult audiences in Montgomery and Bucks County, PA—those unforgettable moments when surprise turns into laughter, and laughter turns into wonder.
During the second show of my triple-header day, I introduced a brand-new routine. It’s part magic trick, part social experiment, and part hilarious group storytelling. Here’s how it went:
The Experiment
As I looked out into the crowd, I scanned for someone who seemed like they’d be game for a bit of fun. Once I found my volunteer, I told the audience we were about to imagine the ultimate dream date—fabulous, funny, and totally made up.
- One spectator decided what the couple would do on the date. Their answer? Miniature golf.
- Another picked the meal they’d share—hot dogs, which got a good-natured laugh.
- A third audience member was tasked with choosing a celebrity to complete the fantasy. They chose George Clooney.
Now keep in mind, there had been a sealed envelope at the front of the room the entire time—in full view of everyone.
I opened it slowly… and inside was a large photo: George Clooney, eating a hot dog, at a mini golf course. He looked like he was lost in a daydream—and if you looked closely, it was clear who he was daydreaming about. Our very own volunteer.
The Result
Gasps. Applause. A few howls of laughter. That photo (yes, people came up after to take a closer look) captured not just a prediction, but a magical shared moment.
It’s that perfect mix of mystery and joy that I strive for in every performance—whether I’m at a retirement community in Ambler, a birthday party in Perkasie, or a banquet in Blue Bell.
