Cub Scout packs work hard all year to keep meetings engaging, fun, and meaningful. Between advancement requirements, pack meetings, camping weekends, and the big Blue & Gold Banquet, leaders carry a lot on their shoulders.
That is exactly where a well designed magic show can help.
I am Rick Deezie of DZ Magic, a former Scout who now performs high energy, family friendly magic for Cub Scout packs and Scouting groups across Montgomery County, Bucks County, Delaware County, Chester County, and Philadelphia. My Wonderlusion: Scouting Edition show is built from the ground up for elementary age kids and their families. It turns your event into a shared experience that feels special without adding more stress for the committee.
Built Around Scouting Values, Not Just Tricks
Scouting is more than uniforms and patches. It is about growth, character, and doing your best even when something is challenging.
That is why my scouting show is designed around those same ideas:
- The Cub Scout Motto, “Do Your Best,” becomes the official magic words of the night
- Volunteers are treated with respect and encouragement, never embarrassment
- I highlight teamwork, curiosity, and persistence in a light, playful way
- Scouts are reminded that real magic often comes from practice and effort
Kids are laughing and shouting and having fun, yet they are also absorbing the values that make Scouting special. Leaders often tell me it is one of the rare programs that entertains the entire room while still feeling like a good fit for the spirit of the pack.
Blue And Gold Banquets That Feel Big, Not Complicated
Your Blue & Gold Banquet is the marquee event of the Cub Scout year. Families in North Wales, Lansdale, Doylestown, King of Prussia, Media, West Chester, and Philadelphia want something that feels bigger than an ordinary meeting, but leaders do not want to juggle a complicated program.
Over time I have found a sweet spot that works for most packs:
- A tight 30 minute feature show fits perfectly between food and awards
- The pacing keeps younger Scouts on the edge of their seats without dragging late into a school night
- There are built in photo moments, so parents can capture reactions and memories
- The show is completely self contained, so you do not have to arrange extra AV or special staging
If your banquet is more informal or has extra time, a longer show can work very well. For many packs in Montgomery County, Bucks County, Delaware County, Chester County, and the city of Philadelphia, that 30 minute format has become the go to choice.
Magic For Pack Meetings, Camping Weekends, And Special Nights
Blue and Gold events are not the only time magic can add something special. Scouts and families remember the nights that feel different.
Here are a few ways packs and troops use Wonderlusion: Scouting Edition outside of Blue and Gold:
- Regular pack meetings
A 40 to 45 minute show can serve as a “reward” night or kickoff for a new year. It is a simple way to celebrate advancement, recruitment success, or a big service project. - School night family events
In communities like Ambler, Horsham, Warrington, and Newtown, packs often invite siblings and extended family. A focused magic show keeps everyone engaged and makes it easy to invite new families to see what your pack is like. - Camping weekends
A surprise magic visit during a weekend at a camp in Chester County or Bucks County becomes an instant story that Scouts tell for years. As long as we have a covered space and basic lighting, I can adapt the show to that environment. - Recruitment or sign up nights
Magic is a powerful icebreaker. New families who may be nervous walking into a gym or cafeteria suddenly find themselves laughing and cheering together. That makes it easier for your leaders to talk about what your pack offers.

I am based in North Wales, Pennsylvania, and regularly perform for Scouting events across:
- Montgomery County

If your pack or troop is in the greater Philadelphia region, there is a very good chance I can make your date work, especially for weeknights when availability is more flexible.
What Scout Leaders Can Expect When Booking DZ Magic
My goal is to make your job easier, not harder. Leaders in Montgomery County, Bucks County, Delaware County, Chester County, and Philadelphia tell me the same things they appreciate:
- Fast, clear communication from the first contact through your event date
- Reliability and professionalism when it comes to arrival time and setup
- A self contained show that works in gyms, cafeterias, church halls, and outdoor pavilions
- Age appropriate material that keeps K through 5th graders engaged and still entertains parents and siblings
- Crowd management built into the show, so Scouts stay focused without constant reminders from the front row
Many packs also enjoy sharing my school reaction video in advance so families know what kind of energy to expect. You can see an example of an elementary age audience here:
